The Kenya Psychiatric Association (KPA) joins the family of Dr. Peter Willis Anduuru in mourning his demise that occurred on 14ff July 2022 at the age of 71 years. Dr. Anduuru was a consultant Psychiatrist who had a long successful career, rendering his professional services to fellow mankind until the final days of his life.
Dr Peter Anduuru obtained his Bachelor of medicine and Surgery (MBChB) at the University of Nairobi and then proceeded to his master’s and PhD at the University of London. He also held a diploma in psychological medicine and Neurology obtained at the same university.
He has worked for various hospitals which include: Kenya (Coast General Hospital, Meru General Hospital, Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital, Avenue Hospital, Medenta, and Dr. Anduuru Postbank Clinic). United Kingdom: Institute of Psychiatry, Maudsley Hospital, Bexley hospital, Hill end hospital. New Zealand: Western Bay Health Board, Tauranga Northcote community mental health team, Manawaroa Horowhenua community mental health team. Australia (occasional consultancies). He also worked for Kenyatta University as a part-time lecturer.
He is survived by his five children: Ken, Maryann, Maureen, Nicole and Pete. We are keeping them in our thoughts at this time of pain.
Daktari will be laid to rest at his home village of Ekamanji, Luanda sub-county in Vihiga county on 30th July 2022.
KPA is proud of the many accomplishments of Dr. Anduuru over a long medical career spanning more than 40 years. We have lost a man with vast international clinical experience who has passed on while his service to the nation and mentorship to younger professionals remained in very high demand.
May he rest in peace and may his legacy live on.
